Northeast Tennessee Local Workforce Local Development Board
The Northeast Tennessee Local Workforce Local Development Board, Inc. (NETLWDB), is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity founded to administer and oversee the delivery of the workforce system services for Northeast Tennessee. The NETLWDB works to ensure responsibilities under federal workforce development law and federal funding are met. NETLWDB jurisdiction includes the eight First Tennessee Development District counties, Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington counties. The NETLWDB develops and directs the local area’s workforce development policies and regional strategies. Through partnerships with other local, state, and federal agencies, education, and economic development organizations, the NETLWDB strives to provide access to jobs, skill development, and business services vital to our communities social and economic well-being.

The First Tennessee Development District is carries out general and comprehensive planning and development activities for local governments. The mayors from the eight counties and twenty municipalities that comprise the District, as well as industrial and legislative representatives, serve on the board of directors and provide direction to the staff as they serve the region through planning, coordination and technical assistance.

The American Job Center (AJC) system is a partnership of organizations, working as a team, to promote a universal approach to providing effective workforce assistance to job seekers and businesses. This collaboration of state, regional and local organization is designed to provide a full range of assistance to job seekers and employers under one roof.
These services include assessment of skills, abilities, aptitudes and needs; assistance with Unemployment Insurance; access to employment services including career counseling, job search and labor market information through JOBS4TN.gov; Eligible individuals can obtain more intensive services: including paid training and related supportive services for occupations in-demand.
Comprehensive and Affiliate AJC’s are located throughout the eight county region of Northeast Tennessee and offer walk-in and other job seeker resources. American Job Center services are available to anyone, regardless of employment status.
