Manufacturing
In early 2023, Domtar will complete the conversion of its freesheet paper mill to a linerboard plant, allowing the company to cater to a fast-growing container board market. The plant will manufacture and market roughly 600,000 tons of quality recycled linerboard and medium annually; these are products key to the production of corrugated and solid fiber shipping containers. The Kingsport operation is perfectly positioned to service the growing market, less than a day’s drive from box-makers representing an annual containerboard demand of 3.9 million tons.
